One Year Away From Quarter of a Century....

I turn 24 today ! Yikes!!! I feel old.

A quick search on the Internet shows I share my birthday with these people....
1980 Venus Williams - tennis champ
Edward I, King of England
Donald Sutherland (Actor)
1917 Dean Martin (Crooner & Comedian)
1946 Barry Manilow (Singer)
1963 Greg Kinnear (Actor, "As Good As It Gets")

The song that was at the top of the charts in both UK & US was "Funky Town" by Lipps Inc (What song is this???)

And these things happened on this day......
1885 Statue of Liberty arrived in NYC aboard French ship `Isere'
1923 Enrico Ferrari won his first race and adopted the 'prancing horse' emblem on his cars.
1944 Republic of Iceland proclaimed at Thingvallir, Iceland
1950 1st kidney transplant (Chicago)

Unlike most years, there's no concrete plans for me today as the whole family is busy with the "HOL" at Ba'alwie Mosque today. THE DON, especially will be ultra busy as he is part of the Mosque commitee. Do I mind? No, not in the least. In fact I'm so happy to share this day with such a great event. The HOL which is held annually at the Ba'alwie mosque is a grand event, where many top religious leaders, ahli ulamaks and Mufti's from all Islamic states attend. If you were to pass by Lewis Rd today, you'll be surprised at the turnout. Easily 3000 to 4000 people congregate at the mosque from Asar onwards to commemorate the 28th year of the passing of Almarhum Habib Muhammad Salem Al-Atas, the father of the current Head of the Ba'alwie Mosque.

Still, however, I'll be meeting THE DON for a birthday lunch and after work, I'll be meeting my best friend. I wonder what is in store for me today.....
