BEG, STEAL OR BORROW

Neither a borrower nor a lender be;
For loan oft loses both itself and friend,
And borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry.
This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man.
- William Shakespeare (1564 - 1616), "Hamlet", Act 1 scene 3

One of the many things that throws me into instant temper is when someone borrows something from me then conveniently forgets about it, or worse, do not take care of it till something unfortunate happens to it. Friends closest to me know this habit of mine very well and steers clear of my wrath by making sure they return my things on time. I can't explain it but I am very particular about my things, whether its my cds, books, clothes, whatever. I expect whoever chooses to borrow from me to take equally good care of the thing as I do, if not better, considering it's not theirs anyhow.

And I take great issue with people who just don't bother to return things as soon as they have used them. And instead, I have to call them to ask them to return the stuff to me when I need it. Some nerve these people have!!!

And lately I have been displaying the same tenacity over THE DON'S stuff as well. He is about almost as particular as I am but sometimes tend to shut one eye when his friends or whoever uses his things and return them in less than original conditions.

THE DON calls me Ms Cerewet but its a title I'd proudly wear on my sleeve if it means my things will be intact!!!!
