Not So Lucky Draws

With our big purchase yesterday, we were "eligible" for a lucky draw (another publicity gimmick of the Great Singapore Sale hoo-haa)Mayer Marketing's promo lady called me up on my hp a few mins ago to remind me that I have till 12 noon today to enter the SHOP & WIN lucky draw, entered via a 1900 number costing 20 cents a minute.

Prizes include a flexi holiday to LA/New Zealand/Korea/Melbourne, a 1.6(M) Subaru Impreza, a 2.0 Subaru Legacy, a cruise to KL/Penang/Malacca and $10,000 worth of Mayer Marketing products. Sounds interesting aye?

But experience has taught me that when it comes to lucky draws, there's nothing ever lucky about it for me. I have never in my whole life span, won anything by means of a lucky draw!!!! Ok maybe there was this one time in my Primary School days when I got a consolation price of a stationery set or sumthing like that. But I'm talking about REAL WINS here, cars, holidays, a new condo or even cash. Sumhow the piece of paper with my name written on it always ends up at the bottom of the heap or at most, fall through the fingers of the celebrity or whoever is picking out the winning entries.

And I go green with envy at people who just go on winning lucky draws after lucky draws. I have a cousin who wins almost every year at her company's D&D and almost 20% of the things in her house are all lucky draw gifts from the 29" flat screen to the computer her kids surf to the oven in her kitchen. Some people have all the luck, I guess. And then there was this lady who won $22,222.22 in the Golden Chance lucky draw last week on Selamat Pagi Singapura. (I was channel surfing!!)

With the amount of shopping I do, you can imagine the number of lucky draw coupons I get on a monthly basis. (every shopping centre is always having a lucky draw every other month)It has gotten to the stage where I simply don't bother filling them in anymore. Can u imagine the ache in my fingers filling in my 41 characters long name on every single form ????!!!! (sometimes I fill in THE DON's name, its much shorter but not before I extract a written agreement that whatever he wins is MINE, ALL MINE!!! hehehee)

But since this is a phone-in lucky draw, maybe, just maybe ...I will give it a go. Hee Hee Who knows? My lucky star might just be smiling on me today....*wishful thinking*
