Runaway Jury

For someone who used to go to the movies every other week, it's been a record hiatus for me. Today is the first time in 2004 that I have been to the movies.

We went to watch "Runaway Jury" just now. I have always liked John Grisham books and so naturally movies spun from his books are a must-see. In any case it was damn worth it ! It had everything a movie should have, fast paced plot, power actors (John Cusack, Gene Hackman, Dustin Hoffman), a beautiful leading actress(Rachel Weisz), a tight script and the ultimate feel-good factor, a twist at the end. Though the twist ain't much of a twist for those who have read the book, its still great to see the characters, the story and the plot materialize physically in ways other than that imagined while reading.

Initially I was apprehensive about how good the movie will turn out considering they decided to alter the plot lines from Juror no 9 vs Big Tobacco Co. to Juror No 9 vs Big Gun Co. but I must say it sure added a little bit of zest to the book. And of course Hollywood wouldn't wanna anger the money churning Mr Camel now would it ? And the scene between Gene Hackman and Dustin Hoffman is one reminiscient of the classic scene of Jack Nicholson and Tom Cruise in A Few Good Men.

John Cusack once again proves his worth as the actor to watch. He is definitely on his way up. Dustin Hoffman was great as usual but sadly was not given enough room to shine but I must say Gene Hackman truly truly stole the show!

Fans of Grisham (who don't mind a little poetic licensce) should really watch this movie... and should you need any company, I wouldn't mind seeing it for the 2nd time... all expenses paid, of course. hehehe
