2003 IN REMINISCENCE

Been so long since I blogged. Had a very very busy week what with my cousins here, then the wedding in KL and now busy planning for another trip to Kl this weekend. All that for later.....

Can't believe its the last day of the year. It seems that 2003 went by real fast. I can still remember waiting anxiously to usher in 2003 this time last year. Lots of things happened to me in 2003 from the extremely happy to the xtremely sad. Lets start on a positive note...

OUR ENGAGEMENT

Definitely my most memorable moment of the year. 19th January 2003 will aways go down in our history books as the day we finally sealed our 7 years of relationship with a diamong ring and the blessings of both our families. I still can't believe that I am so lucky as to find "THE ONE" with my first attempt at a relationship. Syukur Alhamdulillah. The event went extemely well, better than both IS and I could ever imagine. Especially with the presence of far away relatives who made it a point to attend. The event also marked the end of my "single and available" days. *Sigh* No more fantasies of marrying an "Aamir Khan" lookalike.

TOK's PASSING

Tok (my maternal grandma) passing away while not so sudden, was still a rude shock to us all. She had been weaker the past few months before but her condition deteriorated rapidly within a month. Her passing is an immeasurable loss to me as I am very close to her. Still, I am satisfied because the month before she passed away, IS and I went back to Pahang every single weekend without fail, just to be by her side. We even sent and fetch her to Kuantan when she wanted to go my Uncle's house. And most importantly we were present when she left us. Life has never been the same since. The house in Pahang has an emptiness feel to it and we don't look forward to going back there as much as we used to.The whole episode taught me that we don't really know how long our old folks will remain with us. So the little time we have we should treasure it and learn to accept their faults n fussiness. Never put off what they ask of you. Whatever little happiness we can provide now we should, before its too late.

SELF-REALISATION

Although it has been 2 years since I have been officially been termed as an "adult". It is only this year that I really feel like one. So used to being the youngest one in the family, I am always spared the "reponsibilities". Especially since everyone in the family also seems to continue treating me like their "little girl". Doesn't help that I'm working for my brother too. Mixing around with my soon-to-be in-laws, I realise that I have to lose my "privilege" status and start acting like an adult. I can't afford to act like the spoilt lil' girl I'm so used to being. hehee I guess maturity has finally caught up with my age and made me more aware that my every action and word (or lack of it) gives others an insight into the kind of person I am and affects how I am perceived by them.

Happy New Year. 2004 will be even more exciting, I think. What with my change of status and all.. hehehe.May the coming year 2004 brings with it even more happiness and good moments for me, Insya'allah. May it brings the same for you too...
