We left immediately after work but we kinda expected that we wouldn't b able to buka puasa wif them. So Umi bekalkan mee goreng, Sepatutnye "alas perut" so that we can eat there but Is sapu bersih. Wat a mistake!! When we arrived at abt 7.30 or so, they were actually waiting for us !!! My aunt masak Lemak udang cili api. My fav..Tiger prawns lak tu. Ade bubur lambuk (this is an ethnic Pahang food) very yummy...think bubur ashyura minus the nuts... I have a very conservative palate but this was really really nice.
Her house was directly opposite Giant Tampoi (mahanom's playground) so we went grocery shopping after resting for a while. Brought my grandaunt along. Even she knew how to discern the Singaporean shoppers. They r the ones with their trolleys filled to the brim and whose mouths go "cheap" "cheap" heheheh. She was telling me abt this when my mom and her trolley came into view. Mengucap my grandaunt tengok trolley kita ...heheheh Well her astute observations r very accurate !!!
When we came back to my aunt's place to send my grandaunt, we realised that there was more food !!!! She cooked Laksa Kelantan.. a variation of the Laksa Lemak but with black pepper. Yummy yum yum!!!! But we were too full to eat. So she packed it up for us to bring home.
Its amazing the length they go to juz to jamu us makan untk berbuka. Both the laksa n bubur r very tedious to make. Mayb I'm not being fair but I think most of us here in Sg wouldn't go to such lengths.... Thats why I love going back to my my mom's side in Malaysia...even tho we're all family but they really treat u well and their sincerity shows. Their hospitality too is light years beyond what we Singaporeans can offer. Perhaps our lifestyle here is soo hectic that we dun have time for anyone but ourselves. Hafiz, Alisa n Man have met my family over there ....whadya think??
